Nate woke up to the sound of the doorbell ringing. His eyes snapped open, and for a moment he was completely disoriented. It was dark, and he was warm, and he felt wrung out, but… good.

Parker was sprawled across his chest, practically naked. Nate’s cock sprang to life, but he didn’t feel any urgency to do anything about it. His peach was sleeping like the dead, and it was so fucking nice to lie there with him that Nate would have happily stayed there forever, ignoring his horniness, ignoring the doorbell…

It rang again, and Nate eased out from underneath Parker, suddenly worried that the sound would wake him. Then he realized that he had absolutely nothing to wear. Wrapping a towel around his waist, he padded out of Parker’s bedroom and made his way through the darkened house. Peeking through the peephole, he saw a group of disappointed ghouls walking away from the porch empty-handed.

That’s right, it was Halloween night.

He would have gladly handed out candy while Parker slept—there was a bowl of it sitting on the little table in the foyer—but he figured that no one would appreciate it if he claimed “streaker” as his costume.

Instead, he flicked the porch light off to discourage any more trick-or-treaters and then wandered the little house until he found the laundry room. His clothes were in the washing machine, and he transferred them to the dryer. He really, really hoped that Emma wasn’t going to walk through the door anytime soon, but he thought she’d said something about spending the night with a friend when he’d been over for dinner the night before.

Which reminded him… the kitchen. He turned the light on and started laughing, even as a warm flush went through him at the memory of making this particular mess. He and Parker had done that? He really hoped that Parker wasn’t going to be too upset about having all his desserts ruined. He never had said why he’d baked so many of them.

His towel kept slipping, so he closed all the curtains and started cleaning up, naked. It looked like there was a peach cobbler that he could salvage, and another peach thing that smelled delicious and had a crumbly top. But the rest… well, he managed to find the trash bags and vowed to help replace the desserts if it was a problem.

It took him an hour to get the kitchen back in shape, and as he put the finishing touches on it, the buzzer for the dryer sounded. He pulled on his jeans, commando, then went to peek in at Parker. The man had rolled onto his back and his eyelids were fluttering in REM sleep. Nate wondered what he was dreaming about. He wanted to go to him, but he hesitated in the doorway. Parker had been exhausted. Nate really didn’t want to wake him, but he also didn’t want to leave, and after the explosion of turbulent emotions between them earlier he wasn’t sure what Parker would want.
